Stepping On class to help reduce falls (Norfolk Public Library)

Elkhorn Logan Valley Public Health Department (ELVPHD) is excited to announce that a new Stepping On class series will begin on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10am. Class times are approximately 2 hours in length, sometimes less depending on content.  This class is open to the public and will meet once per week at the Norfolk Public Library on the following dates: 5/23 at 10am, 5/30 at 10am, 6/6 at 10am, 6/13 at 10am, 6/20 at 10am, 6/25 at 2pm, and 7/2 at 10am.

Stepping On is fun and interactive. Several guest presenters including a physical therapist, pharmacist, and eye doctor will teach select classes. Studies have shown that the fall rate among Stepping On participants was reduced about 30 percent compared with those who did not participate in the program.  Class topics will include: vision, outdoor safety, footwear, medication, home safety, mobility aids, balance and exercise. In addition to the program facilitator, guest experts will lead some sessions.
